Caught in a Riot: How to Survive Civil Unrest

(TacticalNews.com) – With all of the craziness going on in America today, it might be a good idea to learn how to get out of a bad situation. During times of civil unrest, riots can break out anywhere and at any time. Do you have what it takes to make it out safe?

There doesn’t seem to be an end to the chaos yet; hopefully, there will be soon. In the meantime, here are ways for you to get out safely if you ever find yourself caught in a riot.

Blend In

Becoming a grey man is imperative in this situation. You want to look like you’re one of the rioters, which will hopefully keep people from attacking you. Keep in mind you only have to do this until you find a safe way out. You don’t have to destroy property or inflict harm on others to effectively blend in. Becoming a grey man will allow you to move under the radar, but there is a downfall to this.

Law Enforcement

If you’re caught in a riot, your first thought might be to find someone in law enforcement. Don’t do this! There is no way for the officers to know if you’re a threat or not, especially if they’re riot police. Besides, if you’ve become a grey man and blend in with the crowd, you look like a rioter to the officers. Good luck telling them you’re not.

Be Alert, Be Aware

Being aware of your surroundings is crucial to your escape to safety. By staying alert and observant of the crowd’s body language, you can fend off a possible assault. You need to be ready for an attack, even if it seems like no one is a threat. In these situations, everyone is a potential threat!

You also need to be alert and aware in case any avenues of escape open up. Getting out is the priority, so don’t miss opportune chances to escape by not paying attention.

Path of Least Resistance

You want to find the easiest way out possible. Sometimes that entails going with the flow. You need to ease your way out of the crowd and then move away from it. Don’t run and don’t cut across the crowd; both of these actions bring unwanted attention.

If you have a firearm, don’t use it unless your life or health is in danger. Do your best not to be drawn to the chaos and disaster as sometimes we’re drawn to these things like moths to a flame.

The key to getting out of a riot is to stay focused on that goal. Getting to safety is your top priority, so don’t let the ensuing chaos of a riot situation distract you.

Have you ever been in or near a riot? If so, what was it like? Would the tips provided above have helped you get out? Reply to your email and let us know, we would love to hear from you!
