You know what you don’t want to do in the middle of a combat situation? Stop and think. That may sound counterproductive, but your assailant isn’t going to pause what they are doing to allow you time to reflect on how you can best protect yourself and possibly others. The only solution to the problem is muscle memory.
What’s muscle memory? It’s when you do something so often that you don’t have to think about it at all. You just do it. And the only way to develop the skill is over time, with lots of practice. These drills can help you not only develop your muscle memory but do it in such a way that you all of your techniques are correct from the very start.
