The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) has issued a guidance proposal concerning AR-15 pistols, which could require millions of people to either have to register or turn in their weapon with the possibility of it being destroyed or dismantled by government officials.
Of course, it’s no surprise that such a move has received significant backlash, and rightfully so. The Guns of America (GOA) Senior Vice President, Erich Pratt, reacted to the proposal stating the “ATF has gone off into the deep end.” Pratt added that should this guidance go into effect; the GOA will fight back.
Of particular concern is the fact the ATF used undisclosed criteria to determine the legality of these firearms. Here is a follow up from an October move by the ATF we reported on that was subsequently suspended for 60 days.
