(TacticalNews.com) – Despite the popular belief by many people that they were “ready for anything,” the onset of the coronavirus pandemic quickly proved them wrong. You don’t truly understand the needs of yourself and your family until you don’t have the necessary means to satisfy them. With new variants of Covid emerging and an upswing in cases across the US, now is the best time to find your shortcomings and deal with them.
Think back to the beginning of the pandemic. There were shortages in several categories, ranging from food to cleaning supplies to bathroom needs. Disinfectants couldn’t be found anywhere, even in major stores like Walmart or Target.
Unfortunately, it may not be a question of if another lockdown will come, whether it be from the coronavirus or another reason, but when. The time to act is now, before it’s too late. You can start by figuring out exactly what your family uses on a day-to-day basis. It may be tempting to include items we want but don’t necessarily need, and while this is okay to do in some sense, don’t overdo it. Some items experts recommend stocking up on include, but are not limited, to:
- Medicine, both prescription drugs and over-the-counter varieties
- Canned foods, store-bought or homemade
- Freezer food ingredients, which can last for a long time, but not forever
- Basic necessities, such as soap, toothpaste, and toiletpaper.
- Books to help pass the time
- Board games for entertainment and family bonding
- Art supplies, again to pass the time and keep your brain thinking creatively
It’s no surprise that prepping can seem overwhelming and expensive as many people live on a tight budget. Thankfully, there are still plenty of options out there to get people ready for whatever life may throw at them. For example, check out these dollar store supplies that can help you at least get a start prepping.
