The first rule in any survival situation is to not panic. The first requirement of a survival situation is the mindset. The two go hand in hand, even when it comes to one on one combat. If you don’t have the right mindset, your opponent will win before the fight even starts. You might feel fear, but you can’t let it rule the day.

One way to combat your own fear and avoid feeling intimidated is to feel confident in knowing you can defend yourself. At the very least, you can make sure you put yourself in a good enough position to make your opponent question exactly why you aren’t intimidated, and that may be enough to make them back off.
