(TacticalNews.com) – The war to decide the fate of the Second Amendment continues. Unfortunately, this time the battle seems to have been lost in this Virginia city. The new law is set to take effect on July 1, 2020.
ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Under a new ordinance passed by Alexandria City Council Saturday, guns and ammunition are banned from city property, including parks and streets where special events are held. Starting July 1https://t.co/SzvabKE16Z

A ban on carrying a firearm, or ammunition, on city property was unanimously passed by the city council of Alexandria, VA. This overturned a 2002 law prohibiting local governments from regulating firearms on public property.
The ban also covers public events, which could be held on sidewalks, streets, and alleyways. Anyone disobeying the ordinance faces Class 1 misdemeanor charges; carrying a sentence of up to 12 months in jail or a $2,500 fine.
Private security hired by the city, law enforcement, historical re-enactments, and museum exhibits including unloaded firearms are exempt from the ban. Colleges with ROTC programs are also excluded.
Once again the government is attacking the gun rights of law-abiding citizens. It is becoming ever more apparent that we need to pay special attention to (and vote in) local elections. Don’t let your city be next!
