Senator Receives Top Honors From NSSF

( – The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has officially named its “Legislator of the Year.” This time, the award went to Senator Shelly Capito (R-WV) for her tireless contributions to the firearms industry in 2019.

Capito has a long and well-documented history of Second Amendment rights advocacy and is an outdoor sports enthusiast. Early last year, she sponsored bill S94. This important piece of legislature allows states more flexibility to use Pittman-Robertson funds to maintain and develop public shooting ranges. The “Range Bill” also carved a path for better and safer recreational target shooting opportunities.

The Republican senator also put forth great effort to ensure the NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check System) was properly funded. This helped facilitate great customer service for American firearm retailers.

In response to the award, Capito stated that West Virginia has a proud second amendment history, a beautiful landscape, and a deep love for shooting sports. She expressed her pride and honor in receiving the commendation, and promised to work hard to promote outdoor activities as well as hunting, gun safety, and 2A rights.
