Hur Blasts Back at Dem Rep: “We Did Not…”

(UnitedVoice.com) – Special Counsel Robert Hur released his long-awaited report into President Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents in February. He decided there wasn’t enough evidence to charge the POTUS and also included his opinions about his mental fitness. The special counsel appeared in front of Congress recently and pushed back on lawmakers’ narratives.

On March 12, Hur testified for several hours before the House Judiciary Committee. At one point during the testimony, Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) argued the investigation was a “complete exoneration of President Joe Biden.”

Hur responded to Jayapal, saying that specific word doesn’t appear in his report. He explained, “That’s not part of my task as a prosecutor.”

Jayapal argued, “You exonerated him.”

The prosecutor asserted, “We did not exonerate him.”

Jayapal wasn’t the only Democrat Hur corrected. Earlier in his testimony, a Republican also asked him if he absolved Biden. The Conservative lawmaker was responding to Rep. Jerry Nadler’s (D-NY) opening statement, in which he called Hur’s report an exoneration of Biden.

Hur responded to the Republican, making it clear that Nadler was wrong. He said the report did not absolve the president, and that word was never used.

Democrats on the committee released the transcripts of the interview between Hur and Biden. The transcript showed Biden stuttered at times and mixed up some dates.

Hur sparred with Democrats at other times during his testimony, as well. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) confronted Hur about part of the transcript of his interview with Biden. He’d told the president that he appeared “to have a photographic understanding and recall of the house.”

Hur affirmed that he did use the term “photographic” in the report. Swalwell asked him if he ever used that word in his report. Hur said he did not.

During his testimony on the Hill, Hur alleged President Biden lied two times when they spoke. First, he lied about not sharing classified information with his ghostwriter, and another time when he said he locked up the documents. Still, he said there wasn’t enough evidence to charge him with a crime.
