UFC Legend Faces New Battle After Heroic Act

(UnitedVoice.com) – Mark Coleman is a UFC legend. He was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame, won three Pan American Championships, and competed in the Summer Olympics during his career. Now, he’s fighting for his life after a heroic act.

On March 13, Morgan Coleman announced her dad was in the hospital “battling for his life” in Toledo, Ohio. She explained that he was in the house with his parents and dog when a fire started. He managed to save both of his parents.

Morgan launched a GoFundMe for her dad and explained more about what happened. She said that her dad’s dog, Hammer, woke him at about 4 a.m. on March 12. He was visiting his parents at the time. After getting his parents out of the house, he ran back inside to find Hammer. Sadly, the dog didn’t make it.

According to reports, first responders life-flighted him to a hospital. He’s on a ventilator in an induced coma as doctors try to give his body a chance to heal itself.

MMA writer Jonathan Snowden posted a photo of Coleman on X, formerly Twitter, attached to a ventilator. The writer said, “If anyone can beat back death itself, it’s Mark.”

Connie Coleman, the Hall of Famer’s mom, posted a message on social media thanking God that she and her husband survived. She asked for prayers for her son and thanked all of the first responders who helped. She also thanked everyone for their messages of support.

The Ballville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire. The roof collapsed when firefighters arrived. Coleman suffered from smoke inhalation, which can be deadly. The blaze reportedly started in the kitchen of the home and quickly spread. Authorities have said it’s a total loss.

Coleman was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2008. He retired from the sport with a 16-10 record. He was the first UFC heavyweight champion and is widely viewed as one of the sport’s most influential fighters.
