(TacticalNews.com) – Plastic bottles may just be the most useful trash you can find. The best and possibly worst part about these versatile items is that they’re virtually everywhere and take forever to break down. Many people do not know the vast amount of handy uses these bottles can have, so let us show you.
Believe it or not, you can actually make cordage from plastic bottles! We don’t need to tell you how important cordage can be, especially when faced with a survival situation. Bigger bottles – such as 2-liter bottles – work best and will yield the most amount of material. Start by removing the label and cutting off the bottom portion of the bottle. Next, starting from the bottom and working your way up, cut the bottle using a spiral pattern.
Begin your cut as slim as possible, working up to a thicker, yet consistent width as you cut towards the top of the bottle. If you need rope, you can simply braid ribbons of plastic together to make durable cordage perfect for a number of applications.
