(TacticalNews.com) – Water is one of our most essential resources for survival. However, not all water is the same; in fact, it can be harmful in a number of ways. To better increase your chances of staying hydrated and surviving, check out this common water mistake.
The video above explains that while cacti do hold water within their bodies, this water is usually contaminated with deterrents to make it undrinkable. Of course, in some situations you may be desperate, but drinking water from a cactus can result in diarrhea, vomiting and other symptoms that will only dehydrate you further.
Another common mistake is when people boil water. You need to boil the water to kill any bacteria or pathogens present. With that said, you shouldn’t boil the water for more than one minute; otherwise you’re simply wasting fuel, time and water via evaporation. Keep in mind that when above an elevation of 6,500 feet, the water needs to boil for three minutes.
Of course, we don’t only make errors when dealing with water — and errors can easily get you killed in a survival situation. Check out these common mistakes and be sure to avoid them to ensure your survival.
