(TacticalNews.com) – Although most Americans choose to live close to their hometowns, many move around the country multiple times during their lives. Of course, there is also the possibility of having to bug out if SHTF where you currently live.
Remaining cautious is the name of the game when moving or bugging out. As you can see in the following video, even a luxurious place like Las Vegas can have horrific poverty and all that goes with it.
Whether you’re looking to move or just scouting as an area, there are several things to look for in your current or future area. Performing reconnaissance of a location is extremely important. You should also take the time to check out the places you intend on traveling through along the way. Just because you’re driving through and not staying doesn’t mean it’s safe.
Google maps can provide your first look into an area. Its street view allows you to see what the place looks like, even if the images are a few years old. Look for run-down or boarded-up houses; these are typically signs of a bad area.
You can also research local rental rates. Cheap rent has its obvious advantages. However, it can also indicate the area is run down and possibly unsafe.
